12% alcohol. 100% Chardonnay from the South Downs, made at Hattingley. 46 months on lees, disgorged in January 2023 with a dosage of 5g/l. This is sweetly aromatic with subtle honey and toast as well as bright pear and peach fruit. The palate is better and a bit more serious, with sweet citrus fruit and very fine toasty notes, showing elegance and some precision, and finishing with bright mandarin and lemon notes. This is appealing and easy to drink, but there’s a touch of seriousness, too. 92/100 (£40 from Raimes directly)
