I know this is a cider, but it’s just so good, and so vinous, that I had to include it. It’s from the excellent Little Pomona, based in Herefordshire.
Little Pomona Ripple Egremont Russet Unoaked Still Cider 2022 England
8.4% alcohol. The label describes the Egremont Russet apple variety as the Chardonnay of the wine world. Slightly cloudy, this is a beautiful, vinous cider offering fresh appley fruit on the nose, and then a mouth of fresh, dry, grainy, well structured fruit. There’s a nice acid line here and this behaves just like a wine at the table, with a long spicy finish and real gastronomic potential. Such finesse. 9/10
