Canada’s Okanagan and Similkameen Valleys (13) Pamplemousse Jus

We need more wineries like this! Pamplemousse Jus is a small winery based on a farm in the Summerland subregion of the Okanagan Valley, in British Columbia, Canada.
For a long time this farm has worked organically, and specialised in a hybrid called Leon Millon. They are also growing another hybrid, Seyval Blanc, and vinifera varieties Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Seyval Blanc and Chardonnay.
The winery is a collaboration between Tyler Knight who looks after the farm, winemaker Jordan Kubek who has lots of experience both in the Okanagan (I first met her at Haywire, but she also makes the Lightning Rock wines, her own project), and James Langford-Smith (originally Australian, background in hospitality, he sells the wines mainly).
The approach is quite low-intervention/natural, and the wines are fun, and also really delicious.

Pomplemoose Jus Table White 2024 Okanagan, Canada
This is a blend of Chardonnay, Riesling and Gewurztraminer. Juicy, bright and fresh with lovely fruit. Stony, mineral and delicious. 92/100
Pomplemoose Coferment Leon Millet Gewurztraminer 2023 Okanagan, Canada
These two varieties were picked the same day. Juicy and bright, fresh and supple with red cherries and cranberries. Juicy, tart and linear. 94/100

Pomplemoose Marechal Foch 2024 Okanagan, Canada
Dense but fresh and juicy with some nice spicy depth to the fresh black cherry and blackberry fruit. There’s some grainy structure. Fine and very stylish with bright fruit and nice energy. 93/100
