Highlights: Tawse Chardonnay 2013 Niagara, Canada

Tawse are one of Niagara’s leading wineries, and this Chardonnay really delivers. From biodynamically farmed vineyards, this is newly available in the UK at Oddbins, who have a very interesting range of wines at the moment (including the 2015 Tawse Pinot Noir).

Barrel fermented, from four estate vineyards. It’s a delicate, nuanced Chardonnay with some mineral matchstick notes adding interest to the bright lemon and pineapple fruit. This has good tension with very bright acidity and focus. There’s a trace of nuttiness and some woody spiciness on the finish, but the main thing here is the bright fruit. It’s developed really well over the last six years. 93/100
