13% alcohol. This is brilliant. Carinus are a new producer and this is one of their debut wines. It comes from vineyards they own in the Swartland. Dani and Hugo Carinus are fifth generation growers with some very good (and extensive) holdings in Swartland and Stellenbosch, and they sell to some of the top folk (the likes of Alheit Vineyards, Crystallum, Raats Family Wines, Thorne & Daughters, Mulderbosch and LeRiche). This wine was made for them by Chris Alheit. It’s pristine and focused with a lovely mineral edge and a slight salinity, sitting under the focused citrus and yellow plum and white peach. It’s fresh, crystalline, complex and very impressive. 95/100 (UK agent Woodwinters, who also sell to private customers)
