Video: Visiting Hidalgo La Gitana in Sanlucar de Barremeda, one of the top bodegas in the Sherry triangle
It’s harvest time in Sherry country, and Jamie Goode visits Hidalgo La Gitana in the coastal town of Sanlucar de Barremeda. In the vineyards, the Palomino grapes are in perfect condition, and picking begins – the earliest harvest in memory after a hot 2022 growing season. Then it’s time to accompany Fernan Hidalgo into the cellars, to taste wines and also look at the cooperage where they repair and reconstruct their barrels. Finally, it’s time for a night out in town.
