Restaurants: Arabica Borough Market, London

OK, it’s not fancy. But Arabica is just the sort of place I love eating at. It’s a small chain of two middle eastern restaurants, one in Borough Market and one in Kings Cross. We went to the Borough Market one.

Ambience is good. It’s quite a big dining room, but it has some atmosphere. Food is small plates, and there are plenty of vegetarian options. Everything we tried was really good, with a special shout out to the bread selection.

The small-is wine list is well chosen for the food, and we were delighted to find an unfortified Palomino from Sherry country on the list.

This was perfect and also on by the glass.

Valdespino Viña Machuarnudo Alto Palomino Barrel Fermented 2021 Jerez, Spain
Smoky, spicy and mineral with some tangy Flor hints as well as rich pear and apple fruit. Has some lovely spicy detail as well as the rich fruit. Just a hint of raisin and tar, too. A lovely expression of Palomino. 93/100
