Highlights: Angiolino Maule Masieri 2023 Veneto, Italy

From one of Italy’s most important natural wineries. Angiolino Maule and his wife Rosamaria founded this winery in 1988, after working as pizza makers for more than a decade. They built a home and winery on a 6 hectare plot in Sorio di Gambarella, and now they have been joined by the sons, farming 18 hectares of vines and making a range of natural wines. Their main focus is on the Garganega grape. Angiolino also founded the natural wine association VinNatur, in 2006. This now has more than 200 members.

11% alcohol. Natural Garganega raised in stainless steel. VA is 0.4 g/l, total SO2 is just 11 mg/l. This is a beautiful wine, offering pure pear, citrus and mineral notes. There’s a hint of mint and dried herbs, and then some mandarin and melon richness hiding under the pristine lemony fruit. So satisfying and good value. Has nice presence and a slight saltiness on the finish. 93/100
