New releases from new-wave Vinho Verde star Constantino Ramos
I’ve written about Constantino Ramos and his wines in depth before on this site. I caught up with him at Simplesmente Vinhos in Porto to try some new releases.

Constantino Ramos Afluente Lafoes 2024 Portugal
The Lafoes appellation is in the north of the Dão region. It was dominated by the coop that worked here. But this has closed down and there are only 7 producers left in Lafoes. This is a field blend of three whites from a foggy valley. 6 months stainless steel, no sulfites, just chestnut flour. This is textured and supple with lovely pear fruit, and a mineral edge. 93/100

Constantino Ramos Zafirah 2024 Vinho Verde, Portugal
Just one day on skins because it was a warm vintage. Lovely weight and texture to this fresh lighter style red. Has some nice crunchy structure and good acidity. Lovely red fruit purity. 94/100
Constantino Ramos Zafirah Vinha da Rocha 2022 Vinho Verde, Portugal
From one plot west facing. 18 months used barrels. Nice vibrancy and depth here. Concentrated red berry and cherry fruits with nice tart redcurrant brightness. Lovely acid line. 94/100
