Video: Champagne Drappier launch Éclose, a new prestige cuvée

Jamie Goode visits Urville in the Aube – the southern outpost of Champagne – where one of the most important producers here, Drappier, are launching a new prestige cuvée. Called Éclose, it is a Pinot Noir from the famed Sendrée vineyard (named after the cinders deposited here by a forest fire in 1836) that has spent three years ageing on lees in a wooden egg, followed by 10 years on lees in bottle under a cork sealed with an agrafe. This debut 2012 vintage was first shown to the world in this March 2026 event, and it’s really impressive.
