Highlight: Bodegas Tradicion Amontillado 30 Years VQRS
I visited Bodegas Tradicion a couple of years ago. It’s one of the very best bodegas in Jerez. Began the new year with this bottle, which is mind-blowingly good and one of the best wines I’ve ever tasted. Not cheap, but definitely worth it.
Bodegas Tradicion Amontillado 30 Years VQRS Jerez, Spain
19.5% alcohol. A truly remarkable Amontillado, this spent its first decade ageing biologically as a fino then aged two decades oxidatively. So aromatic and complex with astonishing purity, too. Notes of spice, walnut, old furniture and marmalade on the nose. The palate is powerful and vibrant with wonderful spice and marmalade notes, and also a twist of lime. This is really vital and complex with real intensity: almost perfect. The finish is eternal, and fresh, tangy, saline and dry. 98/100
