This is an unfortified white from Alvear, one of the top producers in Montilla-Moriles in the south of Spain. They began making unfortified wines in 2017 and from 2019 Ramiro Ibáñez has been the consultant for these wines, which are made with the use of the many tinajas (terracotta amphorae) that the bodega has.

13% alcohol. An unfortified white wine from these fortified specialists. These are bush vines on albariza planted between 1950 and 1960. This is so interesting: it has some richness, and is tangy and bright with lemon and pear and even a hint of raisin, and then a lovely tangy, salty finish. Such focus and finesse here with lovely purity and good acidity. 94/100 (£28.95 Sip Wines)
