Highlights: Casa Valduga 130 Blanc de Blanc NV Vale dos Vinhedos, Brazil
This is an ambitious sparkling wine from Casa Valduga in Vale dos Vinhedos, Serra Gaucha, Brazil. I really liked the fruit-driven personality, and the way it showed ripeness, intensity, but also a bit of brightness. It’s so good to see top quality sparkling wine being made across the wine world these days.
Casa Valduga 130 Blanc de Blanc NV Vale dos Vinhedos, Brazil
12% alcohol. First launched in 2016, this is a Chardonnay traditional method sparkling wine that spends three years on its lees. Dosage is 10 g/litre. It’s a bold, concentrated, fruit-driven wine with rich pear and peach fruit, some notes of honey and toast, and a touch of pithiness. Lots of flavour here, and although there’s a lot of fruit, there’s also freshness and a nice citrus focus on the finish. Stylish and in your face a bit. Very Brazilian. 90/100
