Exploring Swedish wine (7) Skepparps Vingård

Website: https://www.skepparpsvingard.se/

Located close to Brösarp and Haväng in Österlen, Skepparps has something unusual in Sweden: a hillside vineyard.

Owner Bengt Åkesson took us on a tour through it on a tractor trailor, as the sun was setting. It’s a nice place. There are 6 hectares here, and they have another 5 hectare site 6 km away. Both are planted to PIWIs.

His grandfather planted an apple orchard in 1888, and started a juice factory. This is still going and has 200 employees. Bengt started planting the vineyard in 2011 with 6000 vines. He does a wine festival here with 12 vineyards and 55 wines, with a goal to show Swedish people how good wines from Sweden can be.
